SCOALA GIMNAZIALA TIFESTI Romania
Tifesti School is a lower-secondary school which also has pre-school groups. Education in this school is organized in different stages: (kindergarten) (3-5 years old), pre-school (6 years old), primary (7-10 years old) and basic education (11-15 years old). The school is situated in Tifesti village ,in south –east part of Romania ,in Vrancea county. There are 480 students and 30 teachers in our school. The percentage of unemployed parents is not high, but the incomes of families are rather minimal. In Tifesti village there appear more and more children living in families where one or both parents work abroad. Grandparents and relatives take care of such children, but sometimes they are left alone and as a result, we have growing delinquency.

School staff puts a lot of efforts to create a pleasant atmosphere in the institution that every child could develop physically, mentally and spiritually. Our school cooperates closely with other educational institutions of our country, shares its good practices and organizes common events. Our pupils have a lot of opportunities to fulfill their needs by participating in activities like dancing, singing, sport. Our school community is friendly, tolerant, and eager to participate in international projects. We are a European school which is open to new ideas and ready for changes. The school’s strong points are: a high percentage of pupils admitted to success, introduction of innovative approaches in the educational process, well-qualified teaching staff, working efficient regulations, implementing a democratic approach to education through student self-government, educating pupils with special needs, regular Teacher-Parent Meetings and School Sessions enable parents to be well informed on all relevant issues. Its weak points are; differences in the social status of pupils, limited own income. Threats are; Underestimating the role of the teacher in the society. The school is good at using digital equipment and they have quite well success in ICT teaching and learning. There are about teachers who want to be involved in the project. We want our pupils to develop pupils' critical thinking, communication, and social skills - to make student gets more involved in the community life - to promote European values - tolerance, respect, democracy, active citizenship - to promote intercultural learning.
